Thanksgiving Bakery Packaging: A Preorder Readiness Checklist

Thanksgiving bakery packaging needs to support the orders you promise and the way your team will pack them. Before opening or expanding preorders, confirm that every product has a suitable package and a realistic supply plan.

Match every preorder item to a box

List each pie, cake, pastry assortment, or gift set with its finished dimensions and any board, tray, or insert used. Check the tallest and widest version you expect to sell.

Build one complete example of each order. The package should close without pressing on decorations and allow staff to load and remove the product cleanly. Confirm the material is suitable for the intended product and conditions.

Translate sales into packaging counts

  • Count confirmed orders by product and pickup date.
  • Add realistic expected sales separately so the forecast stays visible.
  • Include boards, inserts, liners, and labels in the count.
  • Check case quantities and usable stock already on hand.

Keep your stock count separate from incoming purchase orders. Assign one person to review changes so a growing preorder list does not outpace the packaging available.

Rehearse the pickup process

Use clear order labels and a package-count system for multi-box purchases. Decide where finished orders wait and how staff verify them at handoff. Give customers the handling instructions appropriate for the products they buy.

Confirm current availability and delivery timing with your supplier before adding more orders. Do not assume a custom printed box can be produced on the same schedule as a stock option.
